I’m Maria, photographer, baby whisperer and Queen of cuddles at EllaEssi Photography.
For the past 7 years I’ve photographed hundreds of babies and families in my gorgeous home studio in Appin, southwest of Sydney.
And as much as I adore photographing precious newborn babies, becoming a photographer was an unexpected, yet joyous career change for me.
I’ve always been a creative soul. Painting, drawing and creating artwork was such a passion of mine, I embarked on a career in graphic design.
And although I enjoyed graphic design and mastering my Photoshop skills, it didn’t bring me the joy I craved.
I yearned for creative passion and to bring people happiness with my artwork.
Something was missing and it wasn’t until my second beautiful daughter arrived that I discovered what it was.
Newborn Photography
I’d booked a newborn session with a local photographer and I was enraptured with her work.
The way she captured my baby girl’s precious smallness, her tiny details and her newborn perfection, it was almost magical.
By the time I collected my daughter Estelle’s newborn photographs, she’d already changed so much.
When I held her photographs in my hands, I cried as I remembered those precious first weeks when she was so tiny.
I was totally captivated and I knew I’d found my calling. I wanted to give other new Mumma’s the joy of photographs and memories of their babies.
Determined to make my dream a reality, I studied photography, I learned about newborn safety, handling and posing and Ella Essi Photography was born.
So here I am, 7 years later.
A professional photographer of babies, children and families.
And it’s every bit as wonderful as I imagined it to be.
Nothing brings me greater joy than seeing the happy tears in a new Mum’s eyes when she sees her beautiful newborn’s photos.
Or a family’s joy when I create precious memories to pass down through generations.
It truly is a dream come true.
And I cannot wait to create beautiful memories for you too.
